sincronicita-1

Jung called synchronicity “a coincidence of two or more events are not related to each other by the same cause, but they mean the same or a similar meaning.” We examples. And ‘synchronicity when you think of a person and a little later you get a call that you talk to her (the events do not have the same cause, but are content very similar to each other). Again appoint a number and immediately go see a car with the same number on the plate; Read a sentence that hits you and shortly after heard repeated by another person.

These events seem to Jung a kind of inner clairvoyance, as if they were external signals that they wanted to “tell us something about only ourselves and our inner conversation.” In short we could say that a person taken by doubts and uncertainty, truth-seeking, could, according to Jung, found in these signals and impersonal represented in symbolic form, of instructions to follow.

Let’s take another famous example: Jung had a patient in therapy, he was telling a dream, in which he received as a gift a scarab gold. During the session, Jung felt a noise behind him, the window was a beetle, who was trying to enter. The scarab, symbol par excellence of rebirth, in the interpretation of Jung was “entered” in the analytic moment most suitable, in order to help women overcome the defenses that prevented her from making progress in therapy.

For Jung, there are three types of synchronicity: 1. there is a coincidence of a psychic content and an external event perceived at the same time and in the same space (example: Think of a person and see arrive); 2. a psychic content coincides with an event that happens at a distance in space (ie. Dreams an earthquake and this occurs at that time, but elsewhere); 3. a psychic content coincides with a corresponding external event, which, however, has not yet realized and will therefore verifiable only in another time and another space (eg. Dreams that Italy become a normal country, which – not wrongly – when you seem very unlikely, and instead then this dream come true, but at different times and in different spaces and really unpredictable at the time of the dream …).

Jung also sought to investigate these mysterious aspects of life with one of the greatest physicists of the 20th century, Wolfgang Pauli. The story of their friendship was told by Arthur Miller, in a book: 137: Jung, Pauli and the pursuit of a scientific obsession.
Pauli was a character type Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a scientist Nobel laureate day and a womanizer, often drunk, at night (could swing, he wrote, from the thug and criminal non-intellectual hermit who had outbursts of ecstasy and visions) . He turned to Jung when he realized that he could no longer hold together these different aspects of his personality. Jung, for his part, was particularly fascinated by the split personality: for this reason, the encounter between these two complex personality was born a collaboration that lasted for several decades, although mostly behind closed doors. Pauli he was concerned not to ruin his scientific reputation, even if eventually convinced him to publish a book with his psychoanalyst.
Miller, in his book, shows how Jung has provided to the scientist of the analyzes which were then particularly stimulating to Pauli in his research work, in particular as regards the exclusion principle, which bears his name and which is one of the pillars of quantum physics (two identical fermions can not occupy the same quantum state simultaneously). This theory stems from the elaboration of the conception of archetypal Jung, from his study of numbers and symbols, according to the logic derived in part from the geometry and partly from theology.
Intellectual debate between these two characters generated research based on the theory of “fourth excluded”, identified in classical physics in the model of the triad, as well as in the model developed by Jung in the essay in which he explores the dogma of the Trinity and the importance given by the Catholic Church of Our Lady.

More precisely, the Sage of the psychological interpretation of the dogma of the Trinity (1942/1948) and in Answer to Job (1952) Jung faces in Christian terms the problem of the relationship between positive and negative, shadow and light, good and evil. Everything is typically explained in terms of dualism, but this second Jung should be exceeded. In his view in fact, the logical premise for every judgment of totality is the quaternary: in fact, to designate the horizon there are four cardinal points; in nature, there are four elements; there are four colors; four primitive qualities; four castes in India; four paths of spiritual development in Buddhism; four respects psychic orientation, etc.
And if you complete the circle, the mandala, its minimum natural division is the quaternity. This often has a quaternary structure 3 + 1, where one of the terms is in an exceptional location, or has a different nature than the other (for example, the four evangelists are represented by three animals and an angel). When the fourth term is added to the other three, it generates’ “A”, the totality. In analytical psychology the “fourth” is therefore the function removed, unconscious, or the Shadow, whose integration into consciousness is one of the tasks of the discovery process.

These commingling between metaphysics and psychology of Jung have been fiercely attacked not only by psychologists and psychoanalysts “lay” or “materialist” as the Freudians, as well as the Protestant and Catholic Church, that they judged blasphemous, Gnostic or even satanic, but also by the esoteric and traditionalist thinkers like Rene Guenon and Julius Evola. The latter, under the alias of Ea, demolishes the wise esotericism, the unconscious, psychoanalysis (Group of Ur, Introduction to Magic which science ego, cit. P. 418 et seq.), The entire building Jungian analytical judging even lower than the psychoanalysis of Freud that, at least, confined within its sphere empirical, naturalistic and pan-sexualist, would cause less damage, “unlike Freud, Jung miticizza it conceives libido as mana, as the force that fascinating according savages permeates certain objects … claims to give in terms of life and true consciousness dogmas, divine figures and symbols of religion … be improvised as a kind of esoteric psychologistic (you pardon the expression) even in respect of the initiatory traditions in put her anywhere light ‘archetypes’, symbols and phases of the’ discovery process’ ‘.
